Shop for the Best Care & Value Using PEHP Cost Tools
To get started, log in to your PEHP account. When you log in to your PEHP account, click on "Providers, Facilities, & Costs" under the “Find Providers and Costs” menu, then choose your network.
Under the “Compare Medical Costs” tab, you can search by medical services. You’ll see cost information for services based on past claims PEHP processed.
Your search results will display common services based on the treatment you entered to give you a better idea of total costs at different locations where the service has been performed. Sometimes you’ll see multiple services bundled together, which means they were frequently performed together.
For each location, you’ll see a list of providers who have performed your desired treatment. Compare providers and costs to seek quality care and great value.
Under the "Compare Prescription Costs" tab, you can do the following:
- Look up a health condition to see a list of drug options along with prices
- Compare prices for a drug at local pharmacies
- See if cash back is available
Find Cash Back Opportunities
As required by the Utah Legislature, PEHP offers cash back opportunities for certain medical services performed by low-cost providers. Cash back is also available for certain medications. The amount of cashback can range between $50 and $2,000.
Eligible services include:
- Colonoscopies
- MRIs and CT scans
- Some same-day surgeries
- Some inpatient stays
- Some medications
Why Offer Cash Back?
Healthcare costs can vary based on where you receive services. They can also vary between providers of the same type. PEHP rewards you for using low-cost, in-network providers through a cash back program required by the Utah Legislature through HB 19 from the 2018 General Session. Cash back is a form of shared savings to help you save on your deductibles and co-insurance and keep overall healthcare costs down to help preserve your benefits.
How is Cash Back Determined?
The amount eligible for cash back depends on the amount of savings available for a specific service or medication. Cash back can range between $50 and $2,000 depending on your network.
How to Find & Apply for Cash Back Opportunities
- Log in to Your PEHP Account
To find cash back opportunities, log in to your PEHP account at www.pehp.org. When you log in to your PEHP account, click on the “Find a Provider and Costs” icon on the top right, then choose your network.
- Search for medical services or medications
Under the “Compare Medical Costs” tab, you can search by medical services. You’ll see cost information for services based on past claims PEHP processed. Your search results will display common services based on the treatment you entered to give you a better idea of total costs at different locations where the service has been performed. For each location, you’ll see a list of providers who have performed your desired treatment. For medications and prices, search under the "Compare Prescription Costs" tab.
- See cash back opportunities & apply
If cash back is available for the service or medication, you’ll see a cash back indicator next to the location and provider name. To qualify for cash back and before receiving services, you must complete the Cash Back Program Application and submit to PEHP via the secure Message Center available when you login to your PEHP account. A Health Benefits Advisor will help you determine where to go for the best value and tell you how much cash back you can expect to receive. When you apply, you’ll have 90 days to get the service done. Once PEHP has processed your claim, please allow up to 60 days to receive your cash back. Please note this is taxable income and FICA is withheld. All PEHP cash back incentives cannot exceed $3,900 per calendar year.
