Savings on Prescription Medications Filled Abroad

To help you save money on your prescriptions, PEHP offers members who are not enrolled in Medicare the option to fill the medications listed below at a designated accredited pharmacy in Canada or Mexico.

If you’re enrolled in the Traditional Plan, the medications are covered by your PEHP pharmacy benefit at no extra cost. If you’re enrolled in a STAR HSA Plan, the cost is covered by your PEHP pharmacy benefit once you meet your deductible. The PEHP Pharmacy Tourism Program allows you to fill 90-day supply of medications you are currently taking and save 40% - 60% during your deductible. Plus, you can get cash back up to $750 per trip.

If you want to fill a prescription (from list below) from a designated pharmacy in Canada or Mexico, contact PEHP pharmacy services at 801-366-7551. The program will cover the following costs associated with the program:

• Roundtrip airfare for you and a companion from Salt Lake City International Airport to San Diego International Airport or Vancouver International Airport (coordinated by PEHP and a representative from the accredited pharmacy in Canada or Mexico)
• Transportation to and from the pharmacy in Tijuana, Mexico or Vancouver, Canada
• One night hotel stay in San Diego for you and a companion (coordinated by PEHP and a representative from the accredited pharmacy in Mexico)

You and your companion will be required to provide documentation of full Covid-19 vaccination before travel. You will also be responsible for food expenses and the cost to acquire a passport, Visa, etc. Please visit travel.state.gov for travel requirements to Canada or Mexico.
