Medical Networks

PEHP has four network options from which our members and employers can choose.

Advantage Network

This is an IHC facility-based network in which PEHP contracts directly with all providers. Some employer groups require the use of panel physicians or no benefits are payable. Other employer groups offer a swing option and will allow up to fee schedule rates for off-panel use. There is freedom to move within the panel without referrals or a primary care physician.

Preferred Network

This network contains all major hospitals within the state. PEHP contracts directly with all providers in this network. There is member freedom to move within the Preferred Network panel without referrals or a primary care physician. Swing option to non-panel providers is available with a higher out-of-pocket expense.

Summit Network

The PEHP Summit Network is based primarily around non-Intermountain Healthcare facilities and practitioners. The network includes 35 hospitals, the University of Utah, Steward Health, and Mountain Star facilities. This network also includes Primary Children's Medical Center and all rural IHC facilities. PEHP contracts directly with all providers in this network. Some employer groups require the use of panel physicians or no benefits are payable. Other employer groups offer a swing option and will allow up to fee schedule rates for off-panel use. There is member freedom to move within the panel without referrals or a primary care physician.

Capital Network

The PEHP Capital Network is primarily centered around Steward Health and University of Utah Healthcare facilities and associated practitioners. This network also includes Primary Children's Hospital and all rural facilities. The physician panel is smaller, as participating provider must have access to the participating facilities. Members must utilize Capital Network providers and hospitals in order to receive maximum benefits. Some Capital Network plans do not have out-of-network benefits.
